From 1999 to 2005, Sebastián counducted the Yale International Singers, a 25-member group comprised mainly of Yale University graduate students and open to all members of the New Haven community. The YIS presented two concerts a year. In their seven years with Sebastián, they performed pieces by Antonio Caldara, W.A. Mozart, Joseph Haydn, a cappella motets by Francis Poulenc, Latin American popular music, José Maurício Nunes Garcia's Requiem Mass, music from the Bolivian Jesuit Missions and madrigals by Sigismondo D'India.
